Domodedovo Demonstrated Russian Hospitality to Participants of International Forums
Domodedovo International Airport provided welcome and farewell services for 63 delegations that arrived in Moscow to participate in the Russia–Africa Summit and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). More than 200 VIP-representatives of African states, who used government charters and regular flights operated by partner airlines, including Emirates and Ethiopian Airlines, were guests at the airport.
The meeting of foreign delegations became part of a larger‑scale programme ensuring a comfortable stay in the Russian capital for international events’ participants. Upon arrival, the guests were greeted by an honour guard, representatives of government agencies and the media.
A special atmosphere of hospitality was created by the themed stand “Moscow Tea Time”, organised by the Moscow City Tourism Committee. Foreign delegates were invited to learn about the traditions of Russian tea drinking, to try pies (pirozhki), gingerbread, traditional pastry in a form of a circle called “sushki” and other sweets with tea, jam or honey.
Among the guests arriving at Domodedovo are representatives from Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Guinea, South Africa, Ghana, Togo, Madagascar, Mozambique, Angola, Nigeria, and other countries of the African continent.
The “Russia–Africa” summit took place on October 28–29 at Gostiny Dvor in Moscow. The event was attended by the President and the leaders of 22 African states. The participants focused on issues related to security, humanitarian and economic cooperation, food security, innovation, technology transfer, and personnel training for the implementation of long‑term joint projects.
In the autumn‑winter schedule, Domodedovo International Airport serves 36 international destinations. Among them are direct flights exclusive to Russia: Ethiopian Airlines to Addis Ababa and Royal Jordanian to Amman. Domodedovo is the base airport in Moscow for S7 Airlines and Ural Airlines.
